Flat Pattern for Dress

To create the puff ball dress shape, I altered a semi-fitted dress block. To get rid of the fitted style, I ignored the darts and let them in the shape. To create a boxy fit, I straightened the fitted side seam and squared off the dress at the chest line to get the desired style.

I added notches to where the zip would be inserted and to the bottom of the dress so I can match up the pattern pieces. I then sliced the panels into equal strips so I could cut and spread, adding fullness to the dress outer panels.

Adding an extra 10cm between each strip for fullness.

The pattern pieces without the added fullness became the lining of the dress and the fuller pieces became the outer of the dress. Seam allowance of 1cm was added.
